A Fun Surprise

The weather here has been really summer-like lately. Highs in the 80's and lows in the 50's--lots of sun. We were still wearing shorts and short sleeves and enjoying the warm temperatures. Then Saturday, it started to cool off and get cloudy and a little rainy, and yesterday morning, we woke up to a fun surprise...
SNOW!!!
Yes, it's only the second week of October! This is one of the earliest snows on record for here. It wasn't a lot--maybe just a couple inches, but for us Texans, it was a real treat.
Even though it was a Sunday morning, I couldn't tell the girls no when they asked to go out and play. They really haven't had much experience with "real" snow. They built a little snowman and had a snowball fight.
Even Shiloh had some fun running around the yard and sniffing the ground.

This picture is my favorite. Yes, she's catching snowflakes on her tongue!

It didnt' stick around--by this morning it was pretty much melted, but the mountains sure are gorgeous now.
