Randy is working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at their headquarters in Salt Lake City. He is a database engineer and started his new job in May. It has been a wonderful environment, and he's really enjoying it.
We have found our new home and will be living in Kaysville. We love this area and are very excited to get settled in. It is a nice "small-town" community in Davis County, with great views of the mountains to the east. This is a town that still has Fourth of July Parades and they also have an annual city-wide water fight! We have already gone to church there a couple times, and the people have been extremely welcoming to us. It seems like most people we met are transplants from other areas, which will be really nice.
We're really excited about the house we found. It is almost as big as our house in Texas, and it is on a 1/3 acre lot. The yard also backs up to the neighborhood park, playground, and pool. It is only about 4 years old and is in a really nice neighborhood. Here's a picture of the house. It looks smaller from the outside, because it is one level above ground with a finished basement. After we get settled in, we'll have to put up some more pictures of the inside and stuff.
Alison will attend Kaysville Junior High, and the other three girls will go to Kaysville Elementary. We have toured the schools, and while they are older, they seem pretty nice. The girls have had a hard time leaving their friends in Texas, but they are all being good sports about the move and starting at new schools.
Some things we are looking forward to about living in Utah:
- Four seasons
- Mountain scenery
- Cool summer nights
- Living near Uncle Eric and Aunt Stephanie
- Being close to Church headquarters, sites, and events
- BYU football season tickets!!!
- National Parks all around
- All our church friends living withing walking distance
- Closer to California and the beach
